From Britney Spears to Jennifer Lopez — Some of the biggest names in pop today would part with one of their platinum plaques to have their songs performed by the cast of Glee.

Except, of course, those guys from Kings of Leon.

The Grammy-winning band is refusing to license its music for use on the beloved Emmy-nominated dramedy, Kings of Leon frontman Caleb Followill told English music mag NME this week. Caleb says the group rejected the show’s request to use their music because The Kings are determined to refrain from “selling out.” He added that while he’s never seen an episode of Glee, “apparently everybody loves it.”

“We had some people call us up wanting to know if we’d allow ‘Use Somebody’ to appear in the trailer for their next movie, and we turned them down. Next day, they called back and tried to put us through to the star of the movie — I won’t name names, but he’s an incredibly famous actor — to let him try to convince us to agree to do it,” Caleb explains. “I was like, ‘Man, don’t even waste your energy.’”

Don’t feel too shabby, Gleeks — Kings of Leon even turned down a cameo appearance on the now-defunct ABC series Ugly Betty.

Bassist Jared Followill chimes in: “We got an offer to appear on an episode of Ugly Betty. They wanted us to play ourselves. We were supposed to come in and help her out with some problem or other.”
