Marilyn Monroe Home For Sale: House Where Marilyn Died Up For Grabs

The Los Angeles mansion where Hollywood icon Marilyn Monroe died of a sleeping-pill overdose 47 years ago is on the market for $3.6 million.

The Spanish colonial revival home nestled on 5th Helena Dr. was built in 1929 and boasts four bedrooms and three bathrooms, casement windows, polished concrete and terra cotta tile floors, original wood beamed ceilings, and period hardware and tiles, The Los Angeles Times reported Tuesday.

News of the listing was first reported by realty website Curbed LA, a hub for commercial and residential real estate news. Since that posting went viral earlier this week, hundreds of potential buyers have lined up outside the suburban Brentwood pad for a glimpse into “The House Where Marilyn Died.”

The site describes the property as: “The crown jewel and largest property of all the Helenas (one of Brentwood’s most romantic and coveted locations) affording lovely vistas and great privacy & seclusion yet in close proximity to San Vicente shops & restaurants and the Sunday Farmers Market.”

On August 6, 1962, Monroe, 36, was found dead in the home by her worried psychiatrist. The doctor broke into Marilyn’s bedroom after failing to reach her after several days and found the sex symbol dead in her bed, clutching the receiver of the telephone. The Some Like It Hot actress had only recently purchased the property for $75,000.
