Actor Mark Wahlberg was honored with star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame during a ceremony in Los Angeles Thursday.
Not bad for a kid from Beantown who used to roll with a group of guys called “The Funky Bunch!”
Wahlberg got his star, No. 2,414, this morning, taking time along the way to thank his wife and their four kids, Penny Marshall, and God.
“I’m so happy my kids are sitting through this … When I heard I was getting this star, I felt like it was a practical joke,” Mark jokingly told the audience after being introduced by his Other Guys co-star Will Ferrell.
The former “Good Vibrations” rapper and onetime crotch of Calvin Klein Underwear landed his breakout role as Dirk Diggler in the 1997 his Boogie Nights. A bevy of lucrative movie deals followed. He earned an Oscar nod for the 2006 Martin Scorsese film The Departed. Wahlberg’s other film credits include Four Brothers, Three Kings, The Perfect Storm, The Italian Job, The Basketball Diaries, Tim Burton’s Planet of the Apes, and Date Night.
He is also executive producer of the HBO series Entourage.
