Mark Wahlberg has partnered with the Boys & Girls Clubs of America to deliver a “Funky Bunch” of Kinect gaming hardware and Xbox 360 bundles to deserving underprivileged children across the country.
“I’ve experienced firsthand the positive impact organizations like Boys & Girls Clubs have on the lives of young people,” says the Oscar-nominated father of four, who can still remember the days when he was one of those disadvantaged youths from the Boston School of the Hard Knocks “When I heard Xbox 360 wanted to give Kinect to Clubs across the country, I had to jump in and help.”
The $200+ Xbox kit includes an Xbox console, a Kinect camera, and two Kinect games, allowing kids to play with their consoles fresh out of the box.
This kind of play encourages physical activity and interactivity, as well as social gaming, the Boys and Girls Clubs Organization says.hanks to both Wahlberg and the Xbox campaign for helping with the project, and making hundreds of dreams come true.
“The first time we saw Kinect, we knew it would have a special ability to bring kids, their families and mentors together. This is gaming and entertainment that encourages teamwork, fair play and creativity. We’re so excited to provide Kinect for Xbox 360 to our local Clubs, and are thankful to Mark Wahlberg and Xbox for supporting our mission to keep kids healthy and active,” says Cyndi Court, Executive Vice-President of Boys & Girls Clubs of America.
