Mckenna Grace, final seen enjoying a younger Carol Danvers in Marvel Studio’s “Captain Marvel,” has booked the lead position in Sony’s “Ghostbusters” sequel, a person with data of the mission tells TheWrap.
Sony has slated Jason Reitman’s sequel to be launched on July 20, 2020.
The story facilities on a single mother and her youngsters. Mckenna Grace will play the daughter, whereas Carrie Coon is in talks to play the mother, and Finn Wolfhard is in talks to play her son.
Reitman’s father, Ivan Reitman, who directed and produced the unique 1984 movie, will write, direct and produce. The at present untitled movie will go into manufacturing this summer season.

Described as “the next chapter” within the story began in 1984, it would contain the passing of a torch to a brand new era of paranormal investigators. It would be the second official sequel following 1988’s “Ghostbusters 2.”
The movie can have no connection to the 2016 movie directed by Paul Feig that starred Kristin Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones.
The unique “Ghostbusters” starring Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, Ernie Hudson and Sigourney Weaver, made $242.2 million in lifetime grosses domestically and greater than $295 million worldwide.
Grace is at present starring in Amazon’s coming-of-age film “Troop Zero” and will be seen reverse Kiefer Sutherland in ABC’s “Designated Survivor.” Her movie co-starring Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson, “Annabelle Comes Home,” opens June 28.
Grace is repped by Paradigm, Management 360 and Hansen Jacobson.
