‘Midsommar’ Trailer Will Make You Think Twice About Going On

Ari Aster has already pulled off one magic trick, going from making Funny or Die movies like “Tino’s Dick Farts” to writing and directing Hereditary, one of the crucial spellbinding and chilling horror motion pictures in current reminiscence. Can he do it once more? Based on the full-length trailer for A24’s Midsommar: sure, sure he can.

(To be truthful, his “fucked up” brief movies are fairly darn good, too.)

Midsommar follows an American couple, Dani (performed by Florence Pugh) and Christian (Jack Reynor), who journey to a pageant in Sweden whereas their relationship is falling aside. The bathed-in-sunlight summer season vacation is supposed to do them a world of excellent, however all that brightness is a surface-level misdirect for what’s actually happening in that distant Swedish village. It seems to be nice.

Here’s the official plot abstract:

Dani and Christian are a younger American couple with a relationship on the point of falling aside. But after a household tragedy retains them collectively, a grieving Dani invitations herself to hitch Christian and his pals on a visit to a once-in-a-lifetime midsummer pageant in a distant Swedish village. What begins as a carefree summer season vacation in a land of everlasting daylight takes a sinister flip when the insular villagers invite their visitors to partake in festivities that render the pastoral paradise more and more unnerving and viscerally disturbing. From the visionary thoughts of Ari Aster comes a dread-soaked cinematic fairytale the place a world of darkness unfolds in broad daylight.

Midsommar opens on July 3.
