Movie News: Live-Action 'Voltron' Movie Back on Track; Watch New 'Rogue One&#039…

Voltron: A big-screen, live-action version of Voltron is back on track at Universal. Long in development, and most recently set up at DreamWorks Animation, the project is based on an American animated television series from the 1980s that itself was drawn from two Japanese series about giant robots. David Hayter is currently writing a new screenplay. Netflix recently debuted a small-screen version (above) based on the same source material. [Deadline]

 


Jumanji: Recently we heard that Jumanji, starring Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart and Jack Black, would delay its theatrical release from late July to December 22, 2017. Now Johnson has shared a new photo of the cast and expounded a bit more on the delay: “After months of shooting and editing our movie together, we realized we have a big family franchise on our hands, that’s full of Christmas wish fulfillment, fun and heart. Like so many of us, it’s my favorite time of the year and I [love] delivering holiday entertainment.” [Instagram]

 

Klown: Sacha Baron Cohen (The Brothers Grimsby, above) is set to star in a remake of Klown, a raunchy, very funny and very popular comedy from Denmark. The original was based on a TV series about best friends who were always getting involved in outrageous situations; in the movie, they head out on a canoe trip for a weekend of male bonding, unexpectedly accompanied by a 12-year-old boy. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story TV Spot: A new TV spot for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story features a stirring speech by Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones) and battle action revolving around X-wing fighters in two different locales. Forest Whitaker, Donnie Yen, Diego Luna and Ben Mendelsohn also star; the movie opens in theaters on December 16. [Movieclips]
