Naomi Campbell requests for privacy during blood diamond testimony

British supermodel Naomi Campbell has requested for strict measures to maintain privacy at The Hague, in the Netherlands, where she will testify at a war crimes trial over allegations that she had accepted a ‘blood diamond’.

Campbell has retained Lord Macdonald, the former UK director of public prosecutions, to seek special protective measures normally granted only to victims of war crimes.

Lord Macdonald asked authorities to ban the public and media from following or filming her at court, according to a confidential submission to the UN special court for Sierra Leone.

He has also requested judges for a blanket ban on information of any sort about Campbell relating to her court appearance, other than that revealed in public testimony.

The 40-year-old model will bear witness at the ex-president of Liberia, Charles Taylor’s trial.

He is accused of trafficking supposed blood diamonds, selling arms to rebels in Sierra Leone in exchange for diamonds, reports The Herald Sun.

Campbell was accused of accepting a blood diamond from Taylor after a dinner party at Nelson Mandela’s house in South Africa
