New 'Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them' Trailer Brings Magic to New York

Harry Potter has one of the greatest worlds ever woven into fiction. Anyone who disagrees has never actually read any of J.K. Rowling’s books. The eight movies adapted from seven books all do a tremendous job of bringing it to life, but even those had to leave out so many details from Rowling’s magical world.

Rowling’s imagination didn’t just stop with the story surrounding the boy who lived, either. She’s conceived of a whole other era of magic just an ocean away, and we’re finally going to see it in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. This movie’s not based on a book, though. This is the first screenplay J.K. Rowling has written (the prior movies were adapted by other screenwriters). And apparently she’s taken to the medium, too, as she’s already written a sequel to this and has a third movie plotted out as well.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find them follows Newt Scamander, a British wizard who arrives in 1926 New York City with a briefcase full of magical creatures that end up getting let loose on the city. And if you’ve been missing the world that contains Hogwarts, you are bound to fall instantly in love with this trailer.
