New 'Logan' Images: See Wolverine Destroy a Car, Plus a Mysterious Set Photo

As fans pick up their copy of X-Men: Apocalypse, which is new to video this week, they’re also anxiously awaiting the next installment of the franchise. The movie is Logan, and it’ll be the third of the X-Men spinoffs focused on the character Wolverine, as played by Hugh Jackman. This will supposedly be his final stint in the role, and for the occasion Fox is aiming for an R rating.

Whether to mimic some of the success of Deadpool or to give Wolverine lovers the harder edge they’ve been wanting since his movie debut in 2000, Logan promises to be grittier than we’re used to seeing with this series. We continue to be teased on what to expect from the sequel, and the latest glimpse comes in the form of a couple storyboard drawings.

Check them out here via director James Mangold on Twitter:

Those sketches don’t show any splattering of blood, but we can imagine this moment will be violent in the finished film. Wolverine’s claws are aimed at the driver of the car’s chest, and we can presume that person is dead by the end of the sequence. It goes well with the below claim in the script by Mangold that this is going to be very different from something like X-Men: Apocalypse

Basically, if you’re on the make for a hyper choreographed, gravity defying, city-block destroying CG f–kathon, this ain’t your movie. In this flick, people get hurt or killed when shit falls on them. They will get just as hurt or just as killed if they get hit with something big and heavy, like, say, a car. Should anyone in our story have the misfortune to fall off a roof or out a window, they won’t bounce. They will die.

The movie’s Instagram page has also shared another black and white photo from the set, seen below, and it’s got people speculating about the plot of Logan. On a bathroom stall partition is written the question “Where are all the mutants?’ Indeed where are they? Have the X-Men and other mutant characters been wiped out in the setting of this film. Or have they had their powers eliminated?

We might have to wait and find out what the scratch graffiti means when Logan hits theaters on March 3, 2017.
