New 'Smurfs: The Lost Village' Trailer Leaves the Live-Action World Behind
The first two entries in Sony’s big screen Smurfs franchise blended live-action and animation, bringing the lovable little blue fantasy folk into the chaotic light of the real world. Smurfs: The Lost Village, however, is keeping things strictly animated. It’s also swapping out the hybrid version’s cast. Gone are Katy Perry, Fred Armisen, George Lopez, Kenan Thompson, John Oliver, Alan Cumming and more. The new blue crew will consist of Jack McBrayer, Danny Pudi, Demi Lovato, Mandy Patinkin, Joe Manganiello and Rain Wilson as the villainous Gargamel.
A new voice cast isn’t the only major change that The Lost Village will have on its hands. It also looks like there’s a whole other Smurfs tribe to discover, and it’s one that appears to have a secret link to Smurfette, the sole female in Smurf Village.
Check it out.
