If we weren’t already getting major “Die Hard” vibes from Alex’s (Priyanka Chopra) one-person battle against a terrorist hostage crisis thus far this season, we certainly are now.
After revealing that one of the masked attackers is in fact an instructor from The Farm, Alex decides to drop the dead woman’s body through the glass roof of the hostage center as a message to the remaining terrorists that she’s still alive and kicking. Any fans of “Die Hard” will remember John McClane (Bruce Willis) pulled a similar move with an elevator and a bloody message. See: “Now I have a machine gun, ho-ho-ho.”
It’s hard to ignore how many parallels can be drawn between the 1988 big screen action classic and “Quantico’s” Season 2 story structure, and showrunner Josh Safran is well aware of the comparison.

“It’s very much a ‘Die Hard’ situation,” Safran tells TV Guide. “John McClane finds himself in that situation, and he happens to be a cop, so he happens to be equipped, but he’s never been in that exact situation before. That’s what’s happening to Alex.”
Unfortunately for Alex, the terrorists in “Die Hard” were a lot easier to spot, and we’re not totally sold on who is and isn’t on her team at this point.
For one, Miranda (Aunjanue Ellis) seems to be doing her level best to stop Shelby (Johanna Braddy) from dragging the AIC operation into the conversation back at the FBI. It’s still unclear why Miranda has switched teams, seeing as in the flashbacks to the initial investigation, she seems completely devoted to sussing out these false patriots. What’s happened in the interim to make her betray the FBI?
Also on our list is Owen’s (Blair Underwood) daughter Lydia (Tracy Ifeachor).
Whatever that mysterious phone call she made after fighting with her dad was about, we’re more than a little worried about who was on the other end of line. Is she part of the AIC takedown or just straight up part of the AIC?

Just when we were leaning towards letting Harry (Russell Tovey) off the hook for any terrorist shenanigans, he decides to keep us guessing. In the flash forward, he helps Ryan (Jake McLaughlin) pick a fight in order to try to unmask one of their attackers. Unfortunately, that plan only outs Alex, who’s found a mask of her own. Then, it’s revealed that Harry managed to track down Will (Jay Armstrong Johnson), whom he “bumps into” at a bar under totally false pretenses.
Is Harry just trying to make sense of Alex and Ryan’s sneaky past? Or is he trying to make them as FBI spies already?
Meanwhile, we are already starting to see the cracks forming in Alex and Ryan’s relationship, and wouldn’t you know it, it’s all about trust issues again.
These two just can’t seem to make it work, so maybe that’s why Alex ends up returning that engagement ring. We still don’t know the identity behind the mysterious “she” Ryan and Alex were arguing about in the premiere is. Boy, “Quantico” does like to keep us guessing.
