A few weeks ago we told you that The Rumor Mill was ablaze with whispers that petite pop powerhouse Christina Aguilera would be part of the Pre-Game Festivities at next month’s Super Bowl XLV. On Monday, FOX and the NFL made the news official.

Xtina will kick off football’s championship with a live performance of our National Anthem, “The Star-Spangled Banner,” as the Green Bay Packers vs. Pittsburgh Steelers at Cowboys Stadium in North Texas on Sunday, Feb. 6. The performance will be televised live on FOX prior to kickoff. The pregame show and Super Bowl XLV will be broadcast worldwide — but Aguilera says there’s no pressure.

“I have been performing the Anthem since I was seven years old and I must say the Super Bowl is a dream come true,” the rosed-lipped 29-year-old said in a statement. “I am really excited to be part of such an iconic event.”

Aguilera joins an elite list of divas — including Whitney Houston, Jennifer Hudson, and Beyonce — who have performed the patriotic song during the nation’s most-watched sporting event. The Grammy winner also performed the anthem before two Lakers vs. Celtics matchups in last year’s NBA Finals.
