One Year After Bobby Kristina Brown's Death: A Timeline of What's Happened With Her F…

On July 26, 2015, Bobbi Kristina Brown passed away.

The daughter of Bobby Brown and Whitney Houston was found unconscious and facedown in a bathtub on Jan. 31, 2015. She remained in a coma for seven months before her death, which was later revealed to have been the result of of Lobar pneumonia, caused by Hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy and water immersion combined with mixed drug intoxication.

Bobbi Kristina’s family accused her boyfriend Nick Gordon of being at fault for whatever happened the night she was found unconscious, filing a $40 million lawsuit against him. After she passed, they amended the lawsuit and alleged wrongful death. No charges have been made thus far, but as the lawsuit continues to play out, tension between Gordon and Bobbi Kristina’s family, especially her father, continues to worsen.

Here’s a timeline of everything that’s happened between them since her death:

July 27, 2015: Both Bobby Brown and Gordon spoke out about Bobbi Kristina’s passing.

“Our loss is unimaginable,” Brown told E! News. “We thank everyone for the prayers for Krissy and our family as we mourn my baby girl.”

Meanwhile, Michele Gordon, Nick’s mother, said in a statement on his behalf: “The passing of Bobbi Kristina is devastating to Nick and our family. Nick loved and cared for Krissi deeply, and he has suffered greatly each and every day they’ve been apart. Nick and our family are in mourning, and we ask that you respect our privacy. Our thoughts and prayers are with both the Houstons and the Browns during this difficult time.”

Aug. 1, 2015: Friends and family of Bobbi Kristina attended her funeral at the St. James United Methodist Church in Alpharetta, Ga. Men were seen carrying a silver casket into the church. A motorcade of up to 75 vehicles, led by police on motorcycles, was seen driving up to it. Security was tight. Guests had to go through three checkpoints manned by state troopers, E! News learned. Gordon did not attend.

Aug. 7, 2015: Bobbi Kristina’s conservators added wrongful death allegations in the lawsuit against Gordon. Originally, Bedelia Hargrove—who calls herself “conservator and next friend for Bobbi Kristina Brown”— demanded at least $40 million in punitive damages for Bobbi Kristina on allegations including assault, battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress and conversion.

After her passing, they made a 13-page amendment to the lawsuit, alleging wrongful death along with the previous accusations that he had physically abused his girlfriend and stole nearly $11,000 from her bank accounts during her hospitalization. The estate accused Gordon of fighting with his live-in girlfriend on Jan. 31, 2015—the night she was found unconscious in a bath tub—calling her a “‘whore'” and a “‘bitch'” and accusing her of cheating, before giving her a “toxic cocktail rendering her unconscious,” after which he “put her face down in a tub of cold water causing her to suffer brain damage.” The estate cites “information and believe” in the suit in claiming to know what transpired.

Aug. 17, 2015: Gordon broke his silence on social media following wrongful death lawsuit. “I look at our pics sometimes it makes me smile sometime I cry @REALbkBrown #happymemories,” Gordon, whose tweets are protected, posted on the social media site. “I’m so happy/blessed that I had @REALbkBrown in my life. i will always & forever love you.”

Aug. 25, 2015: Bobby Brown performed for the first time after his daughter’s passing and thanked fans for their support. “Thank you for all your prayers, everybody,” he told the audience.

Sept. 9, 2015: Gordon filed a response to the”wrongful death” accusations, denying the most serious allegations put forth in the civil complaint and calling them “slanderous” and “meritless.” While he did admit to going out and partying the night before Bobbi Kristina was found unconscious, he denied the wrongful death accusations, saying he did not give his late girlfriend a “toxic cocktail” and then put her facedown in the tub of cold water.

Sept. 12, 2015: Bobby Brown gave his first television interview after Bobbi Kristina’s death on The Real. “We prayed and hoped for six months for something better to happen,” he told the panel. “But when God calls you, he calls you.” He added, “I’m pretty sure her mother [Whitney Houston] was…had a part with like, ‘Come on, let’s get her up here’ in the best way possible. She was not comfortable by herself I guess and she just called my daughter with her.”

Sept. 25, 2015: Medical examiners said they determined the “cause and manner” of Bobbi Kristina’s death but would keep the autopsy sealed. “The Fulton County Medical Examiner has classified the cause and manner of Bobbi Kristina Brown’s death based on information available as of Sept. 25, 2015,”the press release stated. “However, a Fulton County Superior Court Order dated Sept.25, 2015 has been received Sealing the Autopsy Report and ordering the Medical Examiner to not release any further information to the public.”

Oct. 7, 2015: Gordon attempted to stop the civil lawsuit surrounding the wrongful death accusations. Gordon’s attorney filed a motion asking the court to stop the suit until the criminal investigation is over and proceedings are finished. The motion claims that because of the high profiles of Brown and her famous parents, Gordon had become the victim of negative media attention that would make him “unfairly, legally and financially prejudiced should he be subject to parallel criminal and civil proceedings.”

The motion also stated Gordon “would enjoy nothing more than to defend himself in this lawsuit. However, the same individuals that have filed this suit are the same people who are actively seeking a criminal prosecution and he simply cannot defend both simultaneously as refusal to incriminate himself, the Fifth Amendment right guaranteed by both the United States Constitutional and the Georgia Constitution, would raise an inference, albeit incorrectly, of Mr. Gordon’s guilt.”

Oct. 9, 2015: Bobbi Kristina’s conservators filed new allegations against Gordon in response to the motion. Her estate alleged that Bobbi Kristina “died due to a violent altercation with [Gordon], after which he placed her in a bathtub, unconscious, after he injected her with a toxic mixture.”

March 4, 2016: On what would have been Bobbi Kristina’s 23rd birthday, the sealed documents containing her autopsy were released. They revealed she died of Lobar pneumonia, caused by Hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy and water immersion combined with mixed drug intoxication of a cocaine-related substance, marijuana and alcohol. Hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy is one of the most common types of brain damage caused by oxygen loss.

Both Gordon and Bobby Brown spoke out after the results were released.

Gordon told The Daily Mail, “I’m glad that s–t is all over. I just want to wish my girl a happy birthday. I can’t say anymore but it’s good.”

Brown released a statement saying, “For news affiliates to seek and obtain my daughter’s autopsy report, before anyone has been brought to justice for her death is mind blowing to me. Please pray for my family.”

March 8, 2016: Gordon’s attorney’s released a statement regarding the autopsy results and ongoing investigation, saying, “The truth is that Nick tried to save Bobbi Kristina’s life,” the attorneys Joe Habachy and Jose Baez said. “The truth is that Nick cooperated with law enforcement since day one. The truth is that no one loved Bobbi Kristina more than Nick and no one has suffered more as a result of her death than [sic] Nick.”

April 26, 2016: Gordon gave his first on-air interview after Bobbi Kristina’s death with Dr. Phil. “Regardless of what everybody thinks, I made Krissy and Whitney’s last few years on earth as happy as they would be,” Gordon explained. “I gave them somebody to trust, to talk to, to be there, someone genuine.”

He also blamed Bobby Brown for Bobbi Kristina’s struggles. “[Bobby] hurt his own daughter, not me,” Gordon claimed. “I was the one there for her while she was dealing with him not being there. He’s not a reasonable person so I’m not planning on talking to him and I really don’t want to.”

April 27, 2016: Gordon revealed Bobbi Kristina suffered from two miscarriages during an interview with The Daily Mail. “We had a couple of miscarriages. We would have loved to have a kid but we weren’t planning on it yet and she was just such a young fragile person it took a toll on her,” he revealed, adding that he doesn’t believe that she intended to take her own life. “We wanted to get clean, settle down, get married, have kids.”

Only one person who says they were there to protect them…and he didn’t.”

July 6, 2016: Max Lomas—the man who found Bobbi Kristina facedown in the bathtub—spoke out in an interview with People magazine. “I saw her there, and I picked her up out of the water and laid her on the ground,” Lomas recalled. “I saw the color of her face and that she wasn’t breathing. I called for Nick and called 911.”

He revealed that Gordon administered CPR and Bobbi Kristina regurgitated water twice. He also revealed that the pair had a “shaky” relationship and that they got into an intense argument the night before she was found unconscious.
