Phoebe Tonkin: I want Caroline to jump from ‘The Vampire Diaries’ to ‘The Originals’…
The air is thick with “The Vampire Diaries” fan wishes for a crossover on “The Originals.” With “TVD” having just ended its final season, many believe there’s plenty of story left to tell for their favorite characters — and given “The Originals” exists in the same world, it’s the perfect place for them to be told.
It’s not just fans that want that, though. Previously, Charles Michael Davis (Marcel) told Screener he was ready for whoever wanted to crossover — and now Phoebe Tonkin (Hayley) is echoing his sentiments. However, she has someone specific in mind.

“I’ve always thought there was definitely room for Caroline to come over,” the actress tells Screener. “I just love Candice [King], and would like that personally. That’s my social life! But I also just think bringing Caroline would be interesting.”
Chances are fans of “The Vampire Diaries” would agree with Tonkin that Caroline joining “The Originals” would be a good thing. Though it might cause a little turbulence for shippers. After all, if King reprised her role, based on what we learned in the finale of “The Vampire Diaries,” it would involve Klaus (Joseph Morgan) in a major way. Something like that might pump the brakes on any possible romantic reunion between Hayley and Klaus — and cause some major confusion for their daughter Hope (Summer Fontana). Given Hayley’s relationship with Elijah (Daniel Gillies) though, that entire issue may be moot.
It’s not just Caroline that Tonkin would like to see appear in New Orleans, though. She continues, “Any of those characters, I think, could definitely cross over at some point. I mean, obviously not Stefan because he’s dead. But I think there’s definitely room for characters, especially now, with the time jump and stuff. I think the time jump has allowed space between what happened on ‘The Vampire Diaries’ and what’s happening on ‘The Originals’ now. I think there’s been enough time and distance between those times. There’s room for them to come in, for whatever reason.”

While Season 4 of “The Originals” has already wrapped production, meaning most crossovers will have to wait for a potential fifth season, we already know one that’s happening for certain: It was previously revealed that Matt Davis would be reprising his role as Alaric this season. Hopefully that’s just the beginning, and we won’t have to wait too long for some more Mystic Falls residents looking for a new place to hang out.
“The Originals” airs Fridays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.
