Pune and Ahmadabad goes 3G with BSNL in June

On Monday, at World Telecom Day, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) announces the launch of its 3G services in cities of Pune and Ahmadabad in mid-June.

Principal General Manager of Pune division of BSNL V K Mahendra said, “In the first phase, the 3G will be available for around 50,000 BSNL customers in the city. However, the customers should have 3G enabled mobile phone handsets to avail the service.’ The customers will also be able to experience video conferencing and video calls. He added, “One can call in the US and see the other person on mobile screen while talking to him/her. However, the other person should also have 3G enabled handset.”

While talking about the BSNL 3G launch in Ahmadabad, Satya Pal, chief general manager, BSNL Gujarat Telecom Circle said, “We will start the 3G services including, video on demand, movie downloads and video calls on mobile phones in Ahmadabad in a month or so.” He added, “The trials have been going on in Ahmadabad for some time now and we are ready to launch the service.”

This 3G communication introduction would bring complete entertainment package for the customers where they can watch live TV, access high speed Internet connection and receive emails and download music tracks.

Besides 3G services, BSNL is also planning to launch its 3G Data card that can be plugged to the laptop for high speed wireless Internet connections.
