Shannen Doherty Dad Dies

Hollywood bad girl Shannen Doherty is mourning the loss of her beloved father.

John Thomas Doherty, 66, died after suffering a stroke at his home outside Los Angeles on Friday. He was 66. The ex-child actress best remembered for her role as Brenda Walsh on the original 90210 was extraordinarily close to her dad and braved a live studio audience and two left feet for an appearance on the 10th season of Dancing With the Stars to honor him. Of course, Shannen was eliminated from after just one week of competition, but she considered her stint on the show a success because her father — who was in the middle of battling a series of health issues — was in the audience watching her perform.

“I did it for my dad,” she said.

In the statement Sunday, a heartbroken Shannen praised her father as the “greatest man in the world.”

“I love him with every inch of my being and cannot imagine life without him.”
