‘Spaceship Earth’ Director Matt Wolf on What Drew Him to
“Spaceship Earth” will likely be launched by Neon for Hulu and digital obtain on May 8
Director Matt Wolf stated he was impressed to make his new documentary, “Spaceship Earth,” after seeing images of Linda Leigh and Mark Nelson in shiny crimson jumpsuits in entrance of the large early-1990s science experiment often known as Biosphere 2.
“I was just doing research online, and I saw these very compelling images of eight people including these two (Leigh and Nelson) in bright red jumpsuits in front of this enormous glass pyramid, and I actually thought it was still from science fiction film and when I realized it was real,” Wolf informed TheWrap’s Steve Pond on the Sundance Film Festival.
In 1991, eight women and men have been sealed into Biosphere 2, an hermetic terrarium within the Arizona desert containing a miniature reproduction of Earth’s setting. Funded by a Texas oil tycoon hoping to amass licensable applied sciences for house colonization, the mission of Biosphere 2 was to take care of an remoted, sustainable setting for 2 years.
