Tennis Ace Maria Sharapova Lakers Star Sasha Vujacic Engaged

Some girls just have all the luck.

Tennis superstar Maria Sharapova is set to tie the knot with Los Angeles Lakers star Sasha Vujacic, The San Francisco Chronicle said Friday.

The pair was first spotted holding hands about a year ago. Sasha popped the question during a BBQ at his home in Manhattan Beach, California last Tuesday.

“We are engaged and are both really happy,” the NBA champion said before the Lakers’ exhibition game against Golden State last Thursday night. “It’s good and now we can focus on other things.”

The agent for three-time Grand Slam champion Sharapova confirmed the news in an e-mail to The Associated Press. Sharapova is a former world No. 1 player, but a rash of injuries have dropped her ranking to 18.

No wedding date has yet been set, but the marriage will be the first for the Russian Sharapova, 23, and the Slovenian Vujacic, 26.
