'The Dark Tower,' 'Jumanji' and 'Baby Driver' Shift Release Dates…

Three major films are on the move, but for reasons that should ultimately make them better movies.

The highly anticipated adaptation of Stephen King’s The Dark Tower starring Idris Elba and Matthew McConaughey was supposed to come out this February, but that has since been pushed back to July 28, 2017 in order to give everyone more time to finish a movie that just wrapped production a couple months ago.

Due to Dark Tower sliding into a spot originally held by the reboot/sequel (or requel) of Jumanji, that film starring Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart and Jack Black, will now shift to December 22, 2017, positioning it as the big family movie for next Christmas.

Meanwhile, Edgar Wright’s (Shaun of the Dead, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World) next film, Baby Driver, has also been delayed from March 17, 2017 to August 11, 2017, giving August a nice one-two punch of Alien: Covenant (August 4) followed by the new Edgar Wright joint, starring Jamie Foxx, Lily James, Kevin Spacey and more. While films having their release dates pushed back isn’t always the best sign, in this case it’s a good thing for all three movies as it gives each filmmaker more time to get it right instead of rushing product to meet a deadline.

And seeing as all three movies are ones fans have been waiting years to see come to fruition (especially in the case of The Dark Tower, which is also attempting the ambitious feat of creating a TV show connected to the movie), a little more time on each won’t do anything but help.
