Her Golden Globe nomination is in the bag, but Octavia Spencer is still searching for the perfect gown to wear to Sunday’s big awards ceremony.
According to the Hollywood Reporter‘s style blog, Fash Track, designers aren’t clamoring to dress the star, whose standout performance in The Help earned her a best supporting actress nod.
“I’m just a short, chubby girl,” she told reporters Saturday at the Palm Springs International Film Festival. “It’s hard for me to find a dress to wear to something like this! It’s a lot of pressure, I’ll tell ya. No designers are coming to me.”
Blaming her lack of couture creations on her favorite indulgence — “Maybe I should have sworn off peanut butter last year instead of this year,” she joked — the actress still managed to sparkle in a David Meister gown, Neil Lane jewels and Judith Leiber clutch — a look she absolutely loved.
“One of the best things about awards shows,” she shared, is that “you get to wear clothes you would never get to wear.” Someone dress this woman already! Tell us: How would you style Spencer for the Golden Globes?
