‘The Walking Dead’ Season 2 teaser: Rick Grimes will rock you

AMC offered up the first look at Season 2 of “The Walking Dead” on Sunday night (July 17), and the situation for Rick Grimes has not really improved.

It’s quiet, it’s gruesome, and it’s kind of awesome.

The 60-second promo that aired during “Breaking Bad’s” season premiere shows Rick (Andrew Lincoln) in the woods, unarmed and stalked by a pair of zombies. Unarmed with a gun, that is: It turns out he’s pretty deadly with a large rock in his hand too.

Like some of the best scenes in Season 1, the teaser contains no dialogue — just ambient sounds, Rick’s labored breathing and some rather squishy rock-against-head noise. The show used silence to great effect last year, and by doing so again here we’re drawn right back in.
