The Watch List: Screener’s guide to the best of the week, Feb. 5-12

FOX’s reboot “24: Legacy” begins Sunday (10:30-ish p.m. ET/PT) night, and then moves to regular timeslot Monday at 8 p.m. ET/PT, followed by the new show from “Burn Notice” creator, “APB,” at 9 p.m. ET/PT. If all that militaristic excitement keeps you up Monday night, stay steady: “Michael Bolton’s Big Sexy Valentine’s Day Special” will appear as if by magic on Netflix in the wee hours, a week before the holiday itself. If it’s anything like the Bill Murray Holiday Special of years past, those who enjoy that sort of thing will enjoy it very much.

Tuesday brings us the two-hour premiere of MTV’s “The Challenge” at 9, and hotly anticipated Second City/Lorne Michaels comedy “Detroiters” on Comedy Central at 10:30 p.m. ET/PT. If you’re surprised that “The Challenge” is still on, don’t be: Those same people will still be challenging people long after you and your descendants are just dust on the wind. It is their job and their life, and they couldn’t opt out if they tried.

Wednesday offers not just the 400th episode of “SVU” at 9 p.m. ET/PT on NBC, but one of the best premieres you’ll see all year: FX’s “Legion,” from “Fargo” creator Noah Hawley. It’s weird and wonderful, funny and sexy — and the performances, from Dan “Cousin Matthew” Stevens to the iconic Jean Smart, are completely next level. You may come for the tenuous X-Men connection and Aubrey Plaza, but you’ll stay for the sheer inventiveness and exuberant creativity.

Friday marks the early-morning debuts of the full seasons of two great streaming shows — “Abstract” on Netflix, about the art of design, and fashion-biz stunner “The Collection” on Amazon Video — but at 9 p.m. ET/PT we’ll see the premiere of The CW’s final season of “Reign.” We’ve rooted for the self-consciously anachronistic story since Mary, Queen of Scots (Adelaide Kane) first arrived at Court, and even held on after the painful death of King Francis (Toby Regbo) — and we’re glad to see this sweet, clever, strange little show get the send-off it deserves.

Saturday Night Live” is hosted by Alec Baldwin (NBC, 11:29 p.m. ET/PT) with musical guest Ed Sheeran — so prepare yourself for a few hobbit-related jokes at Sheeran’s expense and probably little-to-no mention of our President, who remains respected and unmocked by all.
