Watch Hunter S. Thompson Wake Johnny Depp Up at 6:30 a.m.

Hunter S. Thompson grew fairly close with Johnny Depp during the later stages of his life, so much so that he had no qualms about waking the world’s biggest movie star up at the crack of dawn. The gonzo journalist and author — who penned ‘The Rum Diary,’ which Depp leads this weekend — once woke Depp up at 6:30 a.m. to discuss the production of the ‘Rum Diary’ movie. Now thanks to Hunter Thompson Films, there’s video of this wonderful exchange. Depp doesn’t seem too bent out of shape about having to get out of bed so early. However, when the actor steps away from the phone, he returns to find Thompson riffing on a potential wacky scenario involving Depp’s ‘Rum Diary’ character, Paul Kemp.
