#What2Watch: Wednesday’s 5 must-see shows

Wednesday (Sept. 28) has a plethora of great TV choices, so we’re here to help you figure out the cream of the crop.

If you’re in the mood for something serious, try “Law & Order: SVU.” If you’re in the mood for something funny, try TV Land’s great comedies. If you’re in the mood for both, “Empire” is where it’s at.

‘Empire,’ 9 p.m., FOX

After touching on the issue of violence in hip hop in the Season 3 premiere, “Empire” is going one step further as Andre (Trai Byers) has a run-in with some aggressive and violent police officers.

‘Law & Order: SVU,’ 9 p.m., NBC

“L&O:SVU” has never had as big of a guest star as Vice President Joe Biden, who is there to shine a light on an important cause — the backlog of untested rape kits across the country.

‘Designated Survivor,’ 10 p.m., ABC

After one of the best pilots of the 2016-17 TV season, it’s time to see if “Designated Survivor” and President Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) can keep the momentum going.

‘Younger’ & ‘Impastor,’ 10 p.m., TV Land

Two of TV Land’s awesome comedies are back Wednesday with the “Younger” Season 3 and “Impastor” Season 2 premieres. If you aren’t watching these shows yet, you’re really missing out.

‘Cutthroat Kitchen,’ 11 p.m., Food Network

This cooking competition show is always, well, cutthroat, but its Season 15 premiere “Tournament of Terror” is starting just in time for the Halloween season — and it’s taking the obstacles to a whole new level. The first episode includes deadly murder weapons and a seance board.
