Where do we find April in ‘Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life?’
One of the most controversial characters on the original “Gilmore Girls” series was Luke’s (Scott Patterson) long lost daughter, April (Vanessa Marano), who came onto the scene in Season 6. Given that her arrival indirectly caused Luke and Lorelai’s (Lauren Graham) broken engagement, fans have understandably mixed feelings about her character.
Luckily, Luke and Lorelai will be living out their happily ever after in “Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life,” so we can all be super excited that April Nardini will be returning for the revival.

Screener talked to Vanessa Marano about April’s role in the new episodes, and what it was like returning to the town of Stars Hollow all these years later.
“We get to see April fresh out of college,” Marano says, “A little more set on what she wants to do in her professional life and navigating the world as an adult instead of a kid.”
Given that April was always a bit of a brainiac, we’re assuming she ends up at a college just as prestigious as Yale, but perhaps a little further away.
Marano will only be appearing in “Summer,” the third episode of the revival, which means her story is either not a huge priority for the new series, or she’s simply too far away to visit Luke very often. Either way, we’re glad Marano had the time to bring April back to the small screen, even if only for a short cameo.

“It’s so bizarre because I did that show 10 years ago!” Marano says. “It’s so crazy to be coming back into that character 10 years later. It’s really fun … Dan Palladino — the first thing he said to me on set was, ‘So when you were 12 you were all about ‘Rent’ the musical, so I’m assuming right now you’re all about ‘Hamilton’ the musical.’ And I was like ‘Yes I am! How did you know?”
We hope Marano’s excitement over “Hamilton” at least gives us one or two shoutouts about the hit musical in “Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life.”
“Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life” premieres Friday (Nov. 25) at 3 a.m. ET/12 a.m. PT on Netflix.
