‘Young Adult’ Photos: Charlize Theron is the New Face of Awkward Social Interactions

Out in limited release on Dec. 9 (before expanding on Dec. 16), ‘Young Adult’ reunites Diablo Cody and Jason Reitman for the first time since ‘Juno,’ but don’t expect many warm and cuddlies: the film is a caustic and funny anti-romantic comedy about a disillusioned YA writer named Mavis Gary (Charlize Theron), who heads back to her hometown and tries to reconnect with her high school boyfriend, Buddy (Patrick Wilson). The only problem? He’s happily married (to ‘Breaking Dawn’ co-star Elizabeth Reaser) and a new father. Awkward! Also, awesome, since it affords Mavis and her old high school classmate (Patton Oswalt) the chance to uncomfortably attempt to win Buddy back. Hijinks naturally ensue, some of which you can spy in these newly released stills from ‘Young Adult.’
