E! News correspondent Giuliana Rancic and her husband Bill, who wed in 2007, will reveal their struggle of conceiving and dealing with a miscarriage on the new season of their reality show.

After several rounds of fertility treatments, the couple — who routinely gush about their desire to become parents on the popular Style Network reality series Giuliana & Bill — say they were thrilled earlier this year after learning that they were expecting. On the show’s new season, the couple is seen finding out they’re expecting via in vitro fertilization, only to miscarry nine weeks later.

“About eight weeks in we went for a routine ultrasound and the nurse looked very concerned,” a tearful Giuliana, 36, recalls during an interview that will air on The View Friday.

. “She brought in the doctor and he looked concerned. So he said go wait for me in my office I’m going to review this a little more. And when we were in there he came in…and we just knew that something wrong. And I broke down and I couldn’t believe it. Our pregnancy was going beautifully. We had told our family. We had confided in people and told them and we were just thrilled.”

“Both of us were in shock,” says Bill. “Failure wasn’t an option!”

Giuliana piped in with: “I said, ‘I’m not doing this again. I can’t.’ I was angry at life and at God. Hopefully we can help people understand that there’s nothing to be ashamed of. It’s such a taboo subject, but it’s a very common problem…”

Despite their disappointment over the loss of their unborn child, Bill and Giuliana say they’ll continue to try to conceive a child of their own.

“It was several months of guilt and sadness. And finally I think we just came together and we said there’s got to be a bigger plan here, right? There’s got to be a reason,” Giuliana says.

All-new episodes of Giuliana & Bill return Oct. 11.
