‘Law & Order: SVU’ snags Miranda Lambert as assault victim

miranda-lambert-gi.jpg“Law & Order: SVU” fans have been having a good week.

First, star Mariska Hargitay promised reporters that she was “having too much fun” to leave the show at the end of the season — plus, she announced that Harry Connick, Jr. would be playing a DA who takes an interest in Benson romantically for a four-episode arc. Yay!

Now, we’ve got even more good news for the “SVU” devoted. Obviously, the show has a history of high-profile guest stars, and now we can add country singer Miranda Lambert to the mix. Lambert, who got her start on “Nashville Star,” will return to her roots when she plays an actress who is sexually assaulted by the producer of a reality show.

“Y’all, I’m so freaking excited to be on my favorite show ever!!!” she tweeted. She’s got a lot to look forward to — Lambert was also recently announced as a guest mentor on her husband’s show, “The Voice.” Clearly they’re keeping NBC in the family.

The casting was first reported by TV Guide.
