Newly-single Hollywood hearthrob Zac Efron embraced the Christmas spirit by donating money to a children’s charity after cast and crew on his new movie agreed to shave their heads for a dare.

Twitter got the first glimpse of Efron’s new army buzz. While the actor was forced to shave and get a haircut for a scene in his latest movie, he told others on set that he would donate money to Kingsley House children’s charity for each additional person that got a haircut. And get this — 30 crew members took Efron up on his offer. Participants included two women, who donated their hair to Locks of Love, an organization which makes wigs for patients who have suffered hair loss due to illness..

The High School Musical hunk has been in New Orleans for the past 10 weeks fiiming The Lucky House, a film adaptation of Nicholas Sparks’ novel of the same name. Efron plays a marine who has been on a mission to Iraq for three consecutive tours and finally returns to North Carolina in order to look for the woman who he thought was a lucky charm for him.

“He likes doing things for charity – two Make-A-Wish kids came… to the set while he was there – and he felt like he wanted to do something for a New Orleans charity since he had such a nice time shooting there,” said Efron’s publicist Gina Hoffman.
