If you don’t want to wait until Wednesday at 9:30 p.m. to get Happy, when the ABC comedy returns for a second season, simply direct your attention to the “below” part of your screen. In this clip from the episode — which is a half-hour spectacle featuring nasty jambalaya, frolf (frisbee golf), too many cats, and a Roaring Twenties party — an attempt by Alex (Elisha Cuthbert) and altar-abandoned fiancé Dave (Zachary Knighton) to strengthen their friendship with more honesty has gone sour, which will result in partygoers being subjected to a performance of Dave’s awesomely terrible ballad “Love to the Power of Love.”
While the Happy Endings season premiere includes two snippets of the song, you can experience the full-length video version at defglazerecords.com. (It’s also embedded below.) WARNING: The video contains images of rainbows, animals, lightning, old people in love, Knighton not so much playing a conga as caressing it, and upside down lyrics like “Buddha’s Christian/And Jews are black/Ketchup’s mustard/And aspirin’s crack.”
Behold the power of “Love to the Power of Love”:
