Hopelessly devoted to Grease?! Fans can sing-a-long with the tunes of the hit 1978 movie musical when Grease: Sing-A-Long arrives in select theaters throughout the US this weekend.

Paramount Pictures will re-release the 32-year-old cinema gem for a two-week engagement in 12 markets (five more markets will open July 15) — digitally-remastered — and with designed with lyrics to appear at the bottom of the screen during musical numbers, USA TODAY said last week. With the Grease re-release, theaters are hoping young moviegoers will borrow poodle skirts for a raucous night at the movies. The film promises to allow the movie lovers to sing along with the film’s classic soundtrack — with the help of the subtitles. Theaeter are looking for leads to belt out signature songs like “Summer Nights,” “Beauty School Dropout,” “Hopelessly Devoted to You,” and “Greased Lightin.’”

“The goal is to create a true event. How do you get groups of young people going to the movies and having a great time?” says Adam Goodman, president of the Paramount Film Group.

The original film showcases high school students, played by John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John, who meet during summer vacation and fall in love. The following fall, Sandy (Newton-John) is expected to return to Australia. However, things don’t work out and the two lovers end back together at Rydell High School. But before they can be back together, they must overcome obstacles, which test their love for each other. The movie also stars Stockard Channing and Jeff Conway.
