I haven’t read the comments, so I’m not sure if this has been mentioned yet, but even though Planes is a spin-off of Cars, it is NOT a Pixar film, Planes is from DisneyToon Studios as part of an intended series of films in the Cars universe, so it was most likely not EVER intended to go to the big screen.
Although its important to note that John Lasseter overseas DisneyToon Studios as well.

@Phlurpit That’s exactly what I thought, until I found out that it would be direct to DVD. If it was an official theatrical movie I wouldn’t have been so crazy about it. Instead we can just focus on Brave, Monsters University, and their two other untitled upcoming movies.

Oh my god.. People are so stupid! Planes is not a Pixar film!! John Lasseter is leading it, but it is not the same studio. And it’s supposed to be in the Cars universe, you know, talking transportation vehicles. I hate doing this, but thumbs this up so people will know. I’m annoyed about hearing un informed people about this.

Wreck It Ralph is pointless if they don’t use actual video game characters like Who Framed Roger Rabbit used actual cartoon characters.
