It’s impossible to be an actor involved with a blockbuster franchise and not be constantly inundated with questions about the next movie. If you’re a Star Wars actor out promoting a small indie drama you did, good luck escaping questions about who Rey’s parents are. Actors in superhero movies can’t even read a comic book in public without fans taking pictures and trying to figure out what it all means.
That’s obviously part and parcel with the territory. You don’t take on these high profile projects without also accepting the, well, high profile. But you do have to sympathize a bit with an actor who just wants to talk about their current project but winds up only ever getting asked about some hypothetical future movie. And it’s possible no actor has it worse right now than Ben Affleck, who is not only tasked with playing Batman in Justice League, but also directing the next solo Batman movie.
Thankfully Affleck does seem to have a sense of humor about it all. He was recently on Jimmy Kimmel Live! where he joked about how he spent a year-and-a-half of his life working on Live By Night without a single person asking questions about it. Everyone just wants to know about The Batman. And he’s got a simple answer now for everyone asking, “Bro! I’m working on it! Give me a second.”

So, everyone, can we all agree to give Ben Affleck a second so we might actually see The Batman sometime in the next five years?
