Superhero Buzz: The Rock's Black Adam Goes Solo, 'Avengers: Infinity War' Will V…

Whether you’re a Marvel junkie or a DC junkie or both, we’ve got some updates on the big superhero cinematic universes for you:

Black Adam

We’ve been hearing about a Shazam! movie for the DC Extended Universe for a while, particularly as it would involve Dwayne Johnson playing the villain Black Adam. But because Johnson is such a big deal, his baddie is now getting his own separate movie. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Black Adam will be an anti-hero character in the spinoff, though it’s unclear if this will happen before or after the events of Shazam!, which is still in the works. It’s not mentioned which would be released first, either. For a recap on who Shazam and Black Adam are, check out our guide from 2014.

Avengers: Infinity War 

The next Avengers movie is going to be huge. Not only will it feature tons of characters from all over the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but now we learn it’s going to have a massive scope in terms of its settings, too. Production designer Charles Wood, who has worked on a number of MCU movies, told ComicBook.com the following about his reaction to the number of fresh new environments he’s working on for the sequel: 

Any time you turn that page on this script, you’re kind of staggered, blown away, terrified by what’s in front of you. I think, rather like Doctor Strange, you’ll find this film, it’s not regurgatative, yeah? What I’m trying to say, is, there are many, many, many new worlds to see in this film.

Powerless

Back to DC, but not the DCEU, we’ve got another new trailer for the office space sitcom set in its own version of the universe populated by Superman, Batman and the rest. Vanessa Hudgens and Danny Pudi are among the cast whose characters work for Batman/Bruce Wayne’s cousin, Van Wayne, at a company protecting people from collateral superhero damage. The wonderful Alan Tudyk plays Wayne, and as you’ll see there is some satirical action involving what it’s like being a human in that world. The series debuts on NBC on February 2.
