Sunday’s (March 19) episode of “The Walking Dead” ended on a heart-pounding cliffhanger, leaving everyone wondering whether Sasha (Sonequa Martin-Green) had died.
Heading into Negan’s (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) compound without Rosita (Christian Serratos), attempting to kill as many Saviors as possible, Sasha’s chances at survival didn’t look good.

Previously, “The Walking Dead” has been good at giving us visual confirmation when a big character dies — so the lack of a body onscreen had us hoping she’d make it through that big, brave cliffhanger.
With Season 7’s penultimate episode on the horizon, AMC has released some new promotional images…

And Sasha is very much alive! But by the look of things, she’s being held captive somewhere in Negan’s compound. While it’s clear Eugene (Josh McDermitt) knows she’s there, we have little faith he’ll step up to save her.
To be honest, Sasha’s fate is something we’ve been wondering about for quite some time. Previously, Sonequa Martin-Green was cast as Lt. Cmdr Rainsford on CBS All Access’s new “Star Trek: Discovery” series — news that makes Sasha’s fate on “Walking Dead” seem a little grim.
But for now, these preview images are giving us a little hope — tiding us over before the chaos continues again. And sometimes in the zombie apocalypse, hope is all you need.
“The Walking Dead” airs Sundays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on AMC. The season finale, “The First Day of the Rest of Your Life,” airs April 2, and an eighth season was ordered the week before Season 7 premiered, on October 16 of last year.
