Will Smith, the small screen’s next talent show aficionado? Yes, please!
In news that we’ll have to see to believe, reports out of Britain this week have rapper-turned-actor Will Smith — perhaps best-known these days as Willow Smith’s “Hair-Whippin’” dad — as the latest celeb tapped as a judge on the forthcoming stateside premiere of ITV’s The X Factor.
Smith is apparently set to join UK singer Cheryl Cole and Pussycat Dolls frontwoman Nicole Scherzinger on the panel. It was British pop mogul Simon Cowell who inked Smith to the deal, The Mirror (Yes, I know…) claims.
“Simon thinks Will and Cheryl will be a brilliant formula. He’s one of the biggest names in America, and considered to be a talented musician as well as actor. Simon is desperate to make the US X Factor the biggest show in the world … It is a completely new challenge and he is genuinely excited by it…”
The X Factor premieres on FOX in September.
