A&E Locks Up Breakout Kings For One More Season

… It took a while, but A&E has renewed its original drama Breakout Kings for a second season. The series—a spiritual successor to Prison Break that follows convicts who shave time off their sentences by helping feds catch escapees—was considered a bubble show for the network. Look for it to return early in 2012. [Deadline Hollywood]

… Maybe some truth comes out of Charlie Sheen’s mouth after all. The actor, who was infamously ousted from his million-dollar-per-episode job at Two and a Half Men, has been barking about a new sitcom he’s set to star in. Now details of the show have surfaced: It’s a small-screen remake of the 2003 film Anger Management, with Sheen taking the role that Jack Nicholson portrayed opposite Adam Sandler. The project is still in the early development stage, so don’t expect it to air anytime soon. But what network wouldn’t want to get their hands on this ticking time bomb? It’s already bound to be the most talked-about show of the year. [TMZ]

… Gleeks, relax. Chord Overstreet is still a cast member on Glee, he’s just not being billed as a regular. You can go back to sketching hearts in the margins of your notebook with “Mrs. Overstreet” written in the middle. [TV Line]

… Emily Maynard, the woman everyone wanted to be The Bachelorette THIS season, is already in talks to be the piece of ladymeat at the center of The Bachelorette‘s NEXT season. And less than a month after she broke up with Brad Womack! Gosh, I just don’t know what to believe in anymore. 🙁 [US Magazine]

… Elliot Spitzer, who never should have been rewarded with a TV show after he was ousted as governor of New York because he liked to get down with hookers, will no longer be part of CNN’s broadcast team. The news network canceled his show In The Arena because it finally realized that one of its big names likes to pay for sex with trashy women. At least, that’s my take on it. [NY Times]

… USA Network has picked up Common Law to series. The buddy-cop drama stars Michael Ealy (Sleeper Cell) and Warren Kole (The Chicago Code) as bickering detectives who end up in couples therapy to solve their problems. Zany! Production starts next week, so let’s assume this will debut sometime in the fall. [Deadline Hollywood]

… David Hasselhoff is joining the cast of Sons of Anarchy, proving both that both mine and The Hoff’s prayers have been answered. Hoff will play a huge-penised former porn star who makes Sapphic porno films. A perfect actor for a fantastic role. Let’s hope he dies a violent death. [TV Guide]
