Anne Rice Abandons Christainity

Anne Rice is so over Jesus.

On her Facebook page Wednesday, the author behind the vampire fiction hit Interview with a Vampire, announced that she is turning in her Born-Again Card after refusing to adapt to a number of Christian doctrines.

The 68-year-old gothic novelist says she refuses to be “anti-gay … anti-feminist,” and “anti-artificial birth birth control.”

She adds that “In the name of … Christ, I quit Christianity and being Christian. Amen.”

Raised as a Catholic, Rice shunned religion for much of her adult, but renewed her faith in recent years and effectively retired from writing the dark material that made her a literary legend. In 2008, she released the memoir Called Out of Darkness: A Spiritual Confession.
