‘Arrow’: Oliver isn’t over Felicity but he might be ready to date

Highlight on New Movie Released DVD

Slowly but surely, Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) is moving forward in a new relationship after ending her engagement to Oliver (Stephen Amell) in “Arrow” Season 4. Is it time for the mayor-by-day/vigilante-by-night to do the same? As Amell explains it, it might be.

“I don’t know if he’s ready to move on but it’s time for Oliver to have another relationship,” the actor says from the show’s set.

As he himself admits, “He’s dated one woman since Season 2 and, you know, he had a fling with Isabel Rochev and that was it.” So the playboy status often attached to the character isn’t really all that accurate.

As timing may have it, that relationship may come in form of reporter Susan Williams (Carly Pope), the reporter who seemingly knows a little too much about him.

“I’ve had a couple of scenes with Carly, who’s doing a great job as Susan Williams, and I do think that there will be some exploration of a certain element of romance between the two of them and I hope that people enjoy it,” Amell teases. “Because I’ve found it to be really dynamic so far.”

How is he feeling after finding out Felicity has a new boyfriend, though? The actor confesses, “I thought that Oliver was fine, if not slightly confused that Felicity didn’t tell him that she was dating someone.”

The decision to have her keep that secret didn’t sit well with the actor initially. He explains, “I wasn’t actually a huge fan that she wouldn’t say something because of all the reasons their relationship fell apart last year because of secrets being kept.”

With it now out in the open though, this is another step in repairing the friendship at the core of whatever Oliver and Felicity could be in the future. After all, before they dated they were friends and confidantes. They’ve been making their way back to that place since the end of Season 4.

If there is any hope for this couple in the future — and if they’re the love story endgame some of the show’s fans are holding out hope for — the trust and friendship is what’s most important in rebuilding. And it’s going to take work from the both of them. After all, the secrets and lies started with Oliver withholding information from Felicity.

It’s an interesting time for these two, especially as the co-leads of the new Team Arrow. Hopefully they can whether the storm and come out stronger on the other end — for the sake of the team.
