Yikes! Talk about close encounters of the awkward kind. A clumsy news reporter was left shamefaced at the Orange County Fair in California this week after he clumsily destroyed an artist’s ice sculpture live on air — but some are speculating that the apparent accident set-up.

Sculptor Roland Hernandez was proudly showing off an intricately carved figure he was creating for competition at the annual county fair during an interview with a local news station. Hernadez had just finished describing how he had spend a good eight hours on the “very tough piece” when the bumbling reporter leant on the chilly replica and sent it crashing backwards.

“Dude, are you serious?” he shouted after throwing down his tools.

“I’m shutting it down … I’m tired of guys like this,” the sculptor barked

The sheepish reporter then finished his live cross by promising to “get this taken care of.”

“Anyway with a smile on my face we’ll send it back to you Ed and Anne,” the journalist added.

It is not clear if the blunder is genuine or cleverly-staged television, with some news outlets speculating that the reporter’s actions after the sculpture smash seem a bit staged.
