The bedbugs are biting all over the Big Apple — and now they’ve taken over CNN Headquarters at Time Warner Center in Manhattan!
On Monday, the Human Resources Department of TBS Inc. — which is also housed in the Time Warner Building — sent an email to employees alerting them of a recently-detected bedbug infestation on “several floors of the building.”
“The Time Warner Center Facilities Department advises that bed bugs have been detected in Time Warner Center. This determination was made after testing was conducted on several floors of the building,” read a brief statement obtained by MediaBistro.com on Monday.
A CNN spokesperson says that “the building management is addressing the issue and is taking immediate action.”
Eek! You knew they were in hotels, homes, and subways, but now the blood-sucking creatures that turn a good night’s sleep into a itchy nightmare ave spread to offices. A recent survey of pest control companies found about 40 percent of bedbug problems now occur not in homes, but in commercial businesses such as clothing stores, hotel, and theaters.
The problem has become increasingly prevalant in the City That Never Sleeps.
Earlier this summer, Hollister, a clothing store owned by Abercrombie and Fitch, discovered bedbugs in their New York City location. The store shut down and a team of professionals was brought in to get rid of the problem. Just last month, Victoria’s Secret discovered the creepy crawlers dwelling in an isolated area of one of its Manhattan stores and immediately shut down the establishment for extermination.
