Cows tested positive for bovine TB in California herd

In Colorado dairy herd, cows have tested positive for bovine tuberculosis [TB]. It took some extensive efforts from the authorities to identify more such cows when some indication of eruption of the disease was seen in the herd.

According to the new reports, confirmatory tests in the herd have so far identified four cows, which are infected by tuberculosis.

The investigation to detect the disease in cows was launched in March 2010 after a slaughter facility in Southern Colorado reported internal lesions in cows. After the reports came in, the Colorado Department of Agriculture and the United States Department of Agriculture started its investigation.

Then, few rounds of testing to trace the disease were completed. Finally it was found that the more such cows tested positive for bovine tuberculosis.
