Throughout “Supernatural’s” time on the air, there have been multiple scenarios that have put Castiel (Misha Collins) and Crowley (Mark Sheppard) on the same team. And while fans who enjoy shipping the two always have a field day on the Internet, Wednesday’s (Oct. 27) episode, titled “The Foundry,” stepped things up by not only putting the two foes on the same team but did so in a way that’d even make “Lethal Weapon” fans happy.
Time and again, the angel and former king of hell have found themselves battling a greater evil for their own similar interests. And while Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) were out with their mother, being distracted by one ghostly monster-of-the-week tale, Castiel and Crowley joined forces as an unlikely partnership, FBI-style.

After all, who better to track down Lucifer (Rick Springfield) than two beings that have been the most wronged by the fallen angel? Still, though, you have to agree that Agent Beyonce and Agent Jay Z has a nice ring to it. In fact, those names are so typically Castiel and Crowley that we can’t help but laugh every time we type them.
How long will the duo be tracking mankind’s biggest threat? We have no idea. After Rowena (Ruth Connell) tricked Lucifer, banishing him to a place far away, it’s possible Castiel and Crowley will be continuing on their buddy cop mission through to future episodes.
And that’s a good thing, too. In a show that can feature some tired story twists and familiar horror plot points, it’s refreshing to see the use of these two fan faves in such a different light. It’s not Season 10’s demon bromace between Dean and Crowley… but it’s close enough.
“Supernatural” airs Wednesdays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.
