Cynthia Nixon has landed a recurring role on the upcoming Showtime dramedy The Big C, featuring Laura Linney as Cathy, a high school teacher diagnosed with terminal cancer.
The star of HBO’s Sex And The City has just signed on to guest star in four episodes of the series, in which she’ll play Rebecca, Cathy’s flake former college roommate, who reemerges to shake things up.
Cynthia — a real-life cancer survivor — isn’t the only star facing The Big C. Oscar-nominated Precious star Gabourey Sidibe will play one of Linney’s students, while actor Idris Elba has been cast in a recurring role as one of Cathy’s colleagues.
The Big C premieres Aug. 16 @ 10:30 ET/PT on Showtime.
