‘Dancing With the Stars’ eliminee: ‘It was a great run’

kirstie-alley-maksim-chmerkovskiy-dwts.jpgNo matter which two couples were sent home on “Dancing With the Stars: All-Stars” tonight (Nov. 13), it was going to hurt.

But Kirstie Alley, who got the boot tonight with Gilles Marini, took the news with charm and humor.

“I’m so glad I did it — it was a great run,” the actress told us backstage after the show with pro partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy. “Maks tried his hardest, but come on! The bottom line is there are extraordinary dancers here.

“The first time we did the show everyone was a little even, [but] from the time I saw this cast, I was slightly flipping out — and rightfully so.”

But what the 61-year-old comedian lacked in technical skill she more than compensated in entertainment, including her rapid-fire repartee with Maks. She ascribes her partner’s atypical even temper this season to “horse tranquilizers — the human ones didn’t really work” and says “gas pains” are to blame for his cheerful smile. “His stomach was always in turmoil dealing with me.”

Both will enjoy some much-needed downtime in the weeks ahead. While Maks relaxes with girlfriend Peta Murgatroyd — eliminated tonight with Gilles — Kirstie says, “I am sleeping for 48 hours. I am going to hire someone to wait on me and give me whatever I want while I watch ‘Law & Order: Criminal Intent’ and ‘Criminal Minds.’ I’m doing a marathon because I am obsessed with forensics.”

“She’s trying to find the best way to kill me and get away with it,” quips Maks.

Honestly, Kirstie shares, “I think Maks and I have an amazing relationship that evolves. Before the show I didn’t know our position with each other, really, and I do now.

“He loves me! And I love him too.”
