‘Game of Thrones’ Season 7 prediction: Lyanna Mormont is not the trusted ally she se…

Bella Ramsey Game of Thrones HBO

Pretty much every single “Game of Throne” fan simultaneously fell in love with Lyanna Mormont (Bella Ramsey) the second she appeared on screen thanks to her no-nonsense attitude and angry disposition.

It didn’t hurt that despite her small ranks, she stayed a staunch supporter of Jon Snow (Kit Harington) and Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner) in their war against Ramsay (Iwan Rheon). Plus, who could ever forget her inspiring speech on Jon’s behalf?

Now that Jon Snow sits on the “throne” of Winterfell as the King of the North, however, we’re a little less sure of her allegiance moving forward.

Lyanna may be an adorable, pint-sized ball of rage and sass, but she’s also proven to be very pragmatic for a 10-year-old girl.

Returning the Starks to their rightful place in Winterfell lined up with her agenda to unite the North, but we all know that Sansa and Jon’s war will not stop with Winterfell.

In Season 7, they’ll likely have to face off against a new enemy, and the fighting will begin all over again. Whether they take on the Night King, decide to finally unseat Cersei (Lena Headey) from the Iron Throne or heaven forbid fight back against Daenerys’ (Emilia Clarke) impending invasion, the Starks will be at war again soon enough.

When that war comes, we’re not so sure Lady Mormont will be quite the ally most expect.

She seemed ready enough to fight off the White Walkers, which makes sense given that they present a real and credible threat to her home. On that account, we can probably expect her and her men to stay loyal.

On the other two possible fronts … we’re less sure.

Fighting over the Iron Throne has never been Lyanna’s game, and if Jon decides to make a gamble for it, we can probably expect one or two harsh insults thrown his way about what an idiotic decision that would be. She may have wanted to restore Winterfell to its rightful masters, but Lyanna sure doesn’t seem like she’d want to commit to open war for a throne she claims to have disowned.

On the topic of Daenerys, if she offers independence to the North — or just proves she can be a better queen than Cersei — we’ve got a feeling Lyanna will do what’s best for Bear Island.

Also, not for nothing, but her pledge to follow Jon Snow “from this day until his last day” sure packs less of a punch than the standard pledge of “from this day until MY last day.” Just saying.

If House Stark decides to play the game of thrones again, it may just lose their tiniest ally.

The loss of her 62 fighting men won’t be such a huge hit to take, but the loss of Lyanna’s fearsome speeches and sick burns will surely be a heavy loss for morale.

“Game of Thrones” is set to return in the summer 2017.
