Gerard Butler is heading to 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.
The “300” star has signed on to star in “Olympus Has Fallen,” an upcoming film about a down-on-his-luck former Secret Service agent who is sucked back into the field when terrorists take over the White House, Variety reports..
Millennium Films bought the film from first-time scribes Creighton Rothenberger and Katrin Benedikt. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Millennium is on the hunt for a director.
This the second film Butler has been attached to since completing a three-week stint in rehab for prescription drug addiction at the end of February. Earlier in March, it was reported that Butler is replacing Eric Bana in the diamond heist movie, “Brilliant.”
Though Butler’s most recent films, “Machine Gun Preacher” and “The Bounty Hunter,” have been box-office disappointments, he has four movies coming out later this year: next month’s comedic vignette project “Movie 43,” Curtis Hanson’s surfing movie “Of Men and Mavericks,” a romantic comedy with Jessica Biel called “Playing the Field” and he’ll play a Navy Seal in “Hunter Killer.”
