Harrison Ford Injured On ‘Star Wars’ Set; Reportedly Air-Lifted To Hospital

Reports have been flooding in this afternoon that Harrison Ford was injured on the set of Star Wars: Episode VII. Full details are a bit scarce at this time, but one thing is consistent: His ankle got injured by a door on the set of the Millennium Falcon. How damaged? That’s where the reports vary.

Variety initially said Ford sprained his ankle and that Disney issued a statement saying “He was taken to a local hospital and is receiving care.” That doesn’t sound too horrific, however, British outlet The Mirror makes the event sound quite a bit more intense.

According to them, Ford was crushed when a hydraulic door fell on him. Medics rushed to his side, the police came, and then Ford was put on a stretcher and airlifted to a hospital with a specialized fracture clinic.

And for those who may snark that an injury like this is due to Ford’s old age (he’s 71), do remember this isn’t the first time Ford was injured on a set. On Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, he herniated a disc in his back, which knocked him out of commission for six weeks. Production couldn’t stay shut down that long, and so stuntman Vic Armstrong (who we just interviewed the other day) had to step in and help finish filming.

We’re sure the details will become clearer before too long, but either way we hope Ford makes a quick and painless recovery.
