‘HTGAWM’: Will Connor and Oliver walk down the aisle in Season 4?

Among the many startling revelations in the Season 3 finale of “How to Get Away with Murder” — up to and including Michaela’s (Aja Namoi King) declaration of love for Asher (Matt McGorry), and Laurel’s (Karla Souza) father’s involvement in Wes’ (Alfred Enoch) murder — we have to hit briefly on Oliver’s (Conrad Ricamora) proposal to Connor (Jack Falahee).

After the disaster that has been their relationship this past season, no one could have predicted a proposal of marriage — but then again, Oliver’s always been a hard one to pin down.

We thought he’d crack under the pressure of working for Annalise, but he actually flourished. We thought he’d definitely out the Keating 5 for Sam’s murder, but he was quick on his feet and covered for them. So we guess it figures that the thought of losing Connor (and then reuniting with him) would prompt a serious move from Oliver.

It’s too soon to tell whether a wedding is on the books for Season 4, but Jack Falahee isn’t ruling out the option just yet.

“I definitely don’t think their relationships is on firm enough ground to handle a wedding,” Falahee says. “But yeah, I would like to see them, probably, together. I like their relationship, I think that they truly care about each other. I think this season we saw more of that with the tension between them, and the disagreements that they had, and sort of fighting to resolve them. I think that shows that these men are in love with one another and want the best for one another.”

Unfortunately, the stress of planning a wedding is probably not something either of them can handle at the moment.

“I would like to see them together — but if you’re asking me, Jack? You’ve got to be nuts to try to plan a wedding while getting away with like six murders, second year of law school and working for a crazy woman. No thank you,” Falahee jokes.

On top of all the wedding drama, there’s the issue of Connor nearly taking an immunity deal to sell out Annalise (Viola Davis) and by extension all of his friends. His bond with Oliver might be tighter than ever, but the same probably can’t be said for his relationships with the other members of Murder Club.

“I don’t know how [Connor] assimilates back into the group, really,” Falahee says. “I think there’s a world in which they’re all sort of forgiving like, ‘Okay, we’ve decided to throw Wes under the bus. It’s the only way, and we’re just going to let all this s*** burn down with the house.’ But also, he kind of — up until the end of the episode — is trying to frame Annalise, and sell her out, and turn her in. I think a lot of that’s coming from a place of survival, so maybe she’ll be forgiving of that, but I think that is sort of one of the interesting aspects of our show — the constant tension between different group members, and how it shifts throughout seasons. I think viewers can probably look forward to Connor having a hard time making amends with the group.”

It will be absolute murder (get it?) waiting for Season 4 — but at least we know there are quite a few juicy storylines for Connor coming up when it does.

“How to Get Away with Murder” is scheduled to return in the fall of 2017.
